The harmonious mix of materials and styles extends to the home’s furnishings and finishes, which fell under the purview of Terri DeMun, owner and principal designer of Lone Star Interior Design in nearby Hailey. DeMun’s approach, she explains, was to come up with selections that felt “not too modern and not too traditional, and always comfortable and casual.” From finding just the right antique dining table to choosing floor coverings and upholstery, and helping the couple display photos and textiles from their collection, DeMun helped achieve a look that, like the architecture itself, feels as if it has evolved over many decades.

Along the banks of a southern Idaho river, a homeowner sought out to build a place where he could indulge his passion for fly fishing and his family could soak up the isolated beauty of 11,000-foot mountain peaks. But the breathtaking site east of Sun Valley demanded a getaway that wouldn’t clash with its pristine surroundings. Basking in Sun Valley

Weary of the Hamptons, Anne Ford heads west and creates a vacation home in Idaho with help from local design maven Terri DeMun

If your last name is Ford—as in the venerable automating family—you are born prepared to hit the road when the moment is right.

Anne Ford, an author, and daughter of Henry ord II, did exactly that after 35 years of vacationing in Southampton New york. Despite being based in Ney York, Ford headed west, to Sun Valley, Idaho.

“My brother and sister have been going to Sun Valley for so many years, and I didn’t have a place there,” says Ford. “I wanted to be out there with my family.”

……Terri DeMun and Ford embarked on the project of filling a 5200-square-foot house, largely by email and fax. But first, DeMun made a pilgrimage to New York to see Ford’s apartment there.
